Our use of your personal information
This portal provides teachers with access to their own records held on the database of qualified teachers in England (DQT). The DQT is maintained by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) which is an executive agency of the Department for Education (DfE). For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, this makes DfE the data controller for personal data held on the DQT.
As a teacher, access to this portal enables you to:
Personal data held on the DQT is used by DfE to enable it to fulfil its functions and meet its statutory obligation to award qualified teacher status and hold a list of prohibited teachers. Your personal data is only shared with third parties where the law allows it, or there is a legal requirement for the sharing to take place. The DfE, or organisations working on behalf of the DfE, may contact you for research purposes. Participation in such research is entirely voluntary and your personal data will remain secure and confidential.
Access to the DQT is also available to employers, via the Secure Access service. This is to enable them to check whether individuals they employ, or are considering employing, are suitably qualified and do not have any restrictions against them in relation to teaching in England.
Please email NCTL’s Teacher Qualification Unit at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0207 593 5394 if you have any questions about the DQT, your record, or you experience problems accessing the service.
